Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, a 2 star organisation provides clinical specialties including Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Breast Screening, Maternity, Urology, Child Health, Neonatal Intensive Care, Genito-urinary Medicine, ENT, Maxillofacial, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Intensive Care, Audiology, Cardiology, Haematology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Dermatology, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology, General Medicine. Clinical support services include Pathology, Imaging, Pain Clinic, Dietetics, Infection Control and Neurophysiology.

The Accident and Emergency department, at Queen Alexandra Hospital is the busiest on the south coast of England and handles approximately 100,000 people each year. The 58 bed Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) provides rapid diagnostics for patients admitted as emergencies who can be directed to clinical areas most appropriate for their condition.

The Trust is also home to the Wessex Renal and Transplant Unit holding the prestigious Cancer Beacon Status for Head and Neck Cancer Services.

We are contractually linked with the Ministry of Defence to provide facilities for a Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit (MDHU). Working in partnership this provides a range of clinical services on the Royal Hospital Haslar site at Gosport. These include planned orthopaedic surgery, outpatient services and minor injuries treatment.
