An exciting opportunity has arisen for an efficient and committed person to join the Trust Wide & Cancer Team Research Department as a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The post holder will work in the Clinical Research Department team based at Southampton General Hospital. The University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is very research-active, with over 250 clinical trials currently recruiting. We support both commercial and non-commercial NIHR-adopted clinical trials within our dedicated department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of trials within the NIHR Trust Wide Team & Cancer Division, including setting up clinical trials and trial management for research studies.
- This pivotal role will also raise the profile of clinical trials within the centre and ensure trials are properly conducted according to the Good Clinical Practice (GCP), research governance framework and are compliant with the EU Directive for clinical trials.
- The post holder will also have Line Manager responsibility for Trial Administrator/ Clinical Trials Assistant or Clinical Research Coordinator.
Experience Needed
Essential Criteria
- Research and healthcare background
- Significant experience in setting up and managing clinical research trials.
- Awareness of current legislation regarding research governance issues.
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft applications for managing and analysing information, e.g. Word and Excel
- ICH/GCP Trained
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in managing a study portfolio within a large organisation
- NHS experience
- Project Management training
