Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of administrators in the Charing Cross Hospital Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), providing support to patients, clinicians, nurses, and managers.

As an SDEC administrator you will be the first point of contact for patients calling and coming into the department both at the front door and for patients arriving by ambulance. You will need to be diligent as you will be responsible for registering all patients correctly. You will answer their queries and help solve any issues they may have encountered. You will work alongside the clinicians, nurses, management team and other administrative staff to provide a safe and efficient service to our patients.

The post also involves creating close working relationships with services outside of the Emergency Department, such as with the London Ambulance Service paramedics, the ICT department, and staff from the Urgent Treatment Centre.

You will have the chance to develop your administrative skills through a programme of structured appraisals, support and development.

We are looking for a compassionate and collaborative team member who is passionate about the NHS and wants to support our improvement intiaitives.

Please note this is a full time position working shift patterns including weekends, nights and bank holidays

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing a customer orientated reception service and clerical support to the clinical teams in the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service. This is to include accurately registering patient attendances and updating details onto the hospital databases. They will also be required to assist in any enquiries from internal or external agencies
