An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, well organised, committed individual to join the Trauma & Orthopaedics Admin & Secretarial Team.
The position is full time 37.5 hours per week.
The job is in an extremely busy yet friendly Team. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated and hard working team based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

The successful candidate will have excellent audio typing skills, great communication skills, be a team player and be able to work under pressure.

Trauma & Orthopaedics is a large speciality which works on both emergency and elective patients in Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals. Fracture and elective clinics are run on both sites as well as the community hospitals.

To develop close liaison with other staff involved.
To liaise with Consultants, secretarial colleagues and ward clerks, other primary care staff, health records staff.
Ability to focus and meet tight deadlines in a frequently noisy and distracting environment.
Prolonged use of computer (VDU) and telephone on a daily basis with attention to detail required ensuring accurate and complete data entry. Will be sat at the desk for large percentage of the day. At other times will be required to walk to other areas of the hospital site eg. Collecting notes
Movement of medical notes on a daily basis. This can range from one set of notes to bags weighing up to 8kg.
Working in limited office space
Working in warm conditions during the summer months
Vast amounts of audio typing
Covering for colleagues in periods of sickness or absence

Qualifications

- Educated to GCSE Grade C or above in literacy and numeracy
- Proficient Keyboard Skills
- Computer literate
- Typewriting / word processing RSA level or equivalent practical experience

- Understanding and previous experience in medical terminology
