Job overview

Working in close collaboration within the Quality and Safety Team and wider colleagues, the Patient Safety facilitator post holder will be responsible for working collaboratively and providing support to the team, clinicians and wider Sirona teams for all aspects of quality and safety  The role will require analysis and interpretation and presentation of quality, safety, clinical governance and evaluation data to ensure the accurate and timely production of regular management information reports for the Quality and Safety team and other Senior Managers.

Main duties of the job

Provide support across all service areas to ensure the Ulysses system is effectively utilised. Ensuring that adverse events are processed, managed and investigated.

Support and oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of risk management systems (Ulysses) ensuring efficient and effective data collection: analysis of all clinical governance, assurance compliance and evaluation data. This will include information required for both internal and external reporting.

Undertake a role in the interrogation of the Ulysses system for the analysis of trends and lessons learned and be responsible to produce informative, timely reports for a range of audiences including operational teams; the quality and assurance working groups; the Board and Commissioners.

Develop and deliver a programme of training on all aspects of the use of the Ulysses and other systems as required including the use of the incident reporting, alerts and the risk register, with members of the Quality and Safety team.

Make decisions in accordance with national guidelines and local policies and procedures seeking advice from line manager when required.

Contribute to the development of relevant policies and work independently to gather appropriate and relevant information on behalf of the Quality and Safety senior leaders in preparation for the writing of new policies.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 4/5 or equivalent level of experience

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience in producing, presenting and interpreting data and information for a variety of recipients in an appropriate format often with changing deadlines.
  • Experience in data analysis, which may involve making judgements when handling complex information.
  • Ability to identify, report and escalate issues/risks appropriately.
  • Knowledge of the Ulysses System (or equivalent) and other system modules.
  • Experience of creating presentations and corporate reports.
  • High standard of computer literacy and experience of using Office PC applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook to an advanced level.
  • Ability and experience in ensuring deadlines are met and take appropriate action to ensure work is completed to given timescales and is of a high standard.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust plans according to team/service priorities and changing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislation that applies to care and health work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Patient Safety and the Patient Safety Strategy
