Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.

Take responsibility for a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing, in the absence of the senior nurse or person who has continuing (24 hour) responsibility. 

Responsible for managing a group of staff in the absence of the senior nurse. 

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join Gladstone ward based in Deeside Community Hospital.

Deeside Community Hospital is a great place to work and feel part of a close community hospital team. The team enjoy a close working relationship and support from the hospital league of friends A range of outpatient’s services also take place within the hospital site..

Gladstone is a 20 bedded ward - escalated to 28. Both wards are supported by a Care of the Elderly medical team with Advanced Nurse Practitioner support and have additional support from therapies to develop agreed rehabilitation plans with patients, with the focus on discharge to recover and assess.

Patients admitted to Branwen and Gladstone wards are transferred either from acute hospital wards when medically fit or from the community to prevent the need for an acute hospital admission.  Patients may require complex discharge planning, including the completion of long term assessments. Working as part of the nursing team, you will have the opportunity to develop excellent skills in patient assessment as part of their recovery as well as a range of nursing interventions. You will also work closely with community teams as part of the discharge planning process.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
