Job overview

Ward 6 is a 20 bedded Specialist Respiratory ward in the Ysbyty Glan Clwyd site. The ward encompasses within it at an acute high dependency non-invasive ventilation unit (NIV) with a nurse-led service

Main duties of the job

As a Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse you will have the opportunity to work in a clinical environment striving for excellence, and be an integral part of our dynamic nursing team. You will be working alongside 4 permanent band 6 deputy sisters, supported by the Ward Manager, and Matron to undertake professional and personal development opportunities, and be supported to undertake postgraduate academic courses, along with enhanced clinical skills. The ward will offer a number of different learning opportunities as well as a further development in management and leadership skills. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holders will be expected to deliver care of the highest standard and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. As a Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse you will ensure that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.  You will be supported to implement and lead on a number of quality improvement projects, and work in collaboration with the Ward Manager and Matron to strive for improvement.
