It is a centre of clinical excellence and is a designated centre for teenagers and young adults cancer services and bone marrow transplants, with a strong emphasis on research and clinical trials.

Our BHOC dietetic team consists of 2 specialist band 7 dietitians, a static band 6 dietitian, a rotational band 6 dietitian and 2 dietetic support workers. Together we provide a service to oncology, haematology and bone marrow transplant inpatients and outpatients supporting patients to live well with and beyond cancer.

This role is a 12 month fixed term maternity cover. As the band 7 lead for inpatient dietetic oncology services you will provide care to patients undergoing treatment for oncology and haematology cancers with a particular focus of working within the speciality of bone marrow transplants as well as with teenagers and young adults.

Experience of dietetics in Haematology and Oncology is essential along with the use of invasive nutrition support within this group. This role will involve close working with the wider MDT including doctors, nurses, the palliative care team, pharmacists, the nutrition team and cancer support workers, so good communication and people skills are essential

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to undertake a role in the training of dietetic students and take part in the education of health care professionals in order to support the Trust Food Policy.

To best meet the needs of our healthcare colleagues and service users the dietetic department provides a service on Saturday, which you will be expected to contribute to once every 4 weeks. We also provide a bank holiday service, each member of staff covering 2 bank holiday dates a year.

Bristol is a vibrant multicultural university city surrounded by beautiful countryside, so can offer an extensive range of leisure facilities to suit everyone. All our hospitals are located in the centre of Bristol so transport links are excellent.
