Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Nurses

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join our existing Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Team (PCCOT) within Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Are you an experienced, dynamic paediatric nurse who can multi-task, make high level decisions and demonstrate excellent people skills whilst being focused on working collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team, leading and providing expert care for critically ill children?

As a paediatric critical care outreach nurse, you will have advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills and will act as a professional role model, supporting, educating and developing new and existing nurses and junior medical staff in paediatric acute and high dependency care across the whole of the children’s hospital.

This role allows experienced and senior nurses the opportunity to focus on clinical care delivery and education for our higher acuity patient group. The PCCOT are involved in leading on clinical management pathways for patients, ensuring a high standard of holistic, evidence-based care is achieved and maintained in all clinical areas. The successful applicants will be expected to work autonomously across all areas of the hospital, leading, managing and supervising the assessment of care.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Applicants are required to be RSCN or RN-Part 15 (Child Branch) and have a post-registration qualification in a related acute paediatric field. You will have excellent communication skills, proven acute paediatric clinical skills together with organisational, leadership and management expertise.

Previous experience as an Outreach Nurse is desirable.

Please note that this vacancy is not suitable for overseas registered nurses who are required to pass the OSCE exam before they can register with the UK NMC.

  • Sound understanding of acute clinical ward-based areas of practice (B6, B7)
  • Understanding of clinical governance framework within the Trust (B7)
  • Evidence of leadership skills and abilities and involvement in change management (B7)
  • Experience of participation in research and audit studies within the last 3yrs (B7)
  • Proven leadership skills and involvement in change management (B6)
