EAT Clinical Technologist

Cardiff and Vale UHB is a Smoke Free Health Board. Smoking is banned across all of the UHB sites. Staff are therefore not able to smoke in the hospital grounds or on any other UHB premises.


Following a review of service funding an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Technologist post within the All Wales Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) Service. The post will be based in the Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre, Wrexham, North Wales. The EAT Service Wales provides highly complex electronic systems that reduce/alleviate impairments to people with a severe disability. The postholder would undertake case conferences with other EAT Service professional staff, and program/install/maintain equipment provided as a result of the assessment process.

Applications are invited from candidates with a strong electronic systems servicing background, who would like to work in a caring and fast changing sector. The role would suit particularly electronic technicians who have worked within NHS equipment servicing departments but a lack of this background would not be a bar to employement.

Travel throughout Wales would be expected as part of the role, in order to support service users within their own homes (or hospital stays) and as such a valid UK driving license is required. Pool vehicles are provided within the Service but in the event of the postholder using their own vehicle, statutory travel expenses will be provided.
