Due to expanding services Critical Care have full and part-time opportunities for registered nurses interested in a career in caring for the critically ill patient.

The successful candidates will work in the Critical Care Directorate which encompasses 33 critical care beds for level 2 and 3 patients.

James Cook Hospital is a tertiary centre and the critical care units admit patients from many areas requiring input from multiple specialist teams.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applicants with post registration experience. Critical care experience is not essential as full training is provided. You will be supported by a well-developed preceptorship package with a structured induction to the Directorate.

Personal and professional development is encouraged and the environment is conducive to learning, with an established Clinical Education team based on the units. Staff nurses are expected to undertake a national Critical Care Competency package to support individual and team development.

There are many nurse led and team initiatives all sharing a common goal of commitment to improving patient care delivery for the critically ill patient.
