We are looking to recruit an experienced clinician (OT, PT or Dietitian) with a specialist interest in obesity to take up a 12 month fixed term contract within the Tier 3 Weight Management Service (secondment opportunities considered, applicants may wish to gain their line managers agreement before applying).

This fantastic opportunity awaits a dynamic, motivated person looking to utilise and develop further their clinical, operational and leadership skills.   

You will operationally lead a team consisting of professionals from Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Endocrinology as part of the wider tier 3 MDT. This service covers locations across North Cumbria.

As team lead you  will work closely with the MDT to drive the further development of this relatively new service.  Within this role you will be expected to provide clinical leadership and operational management to the team and provide clinical input into group intervention and one-one therapy related to your expertise.

  • Providing clinical input, demonstrating advanced competence in complex decision making, assessment and management of clinical needs of patients with complex needs.
  • Actively managing and supporting the development of individuals and the team through appraisal, personal development planning, coaching and mentoring
  • Provide professional assurance and quality governance in the service
  • Leading on the implementation of clinical protocols / pathways in identified service lines
  • Work with the Professional Lead to implement the Allied Health Professions strategic plan.
  • Further develop rehabilitation and recovery focused services to enable more people to be independent for longer, manage their health needs and lead healthy, active lives in their community with a key focus on obesity
  • Supporting the service in its implementation of clinical effectiveness programs by taking part in any agreed research and audit projects, leading on key aspects when identified as appropriate
  • Provide strategic clinical leadership using the most up to date and evidence based theory
  • Offer expert clinical advice for service users, carers, staff and other professional
  • Make a contribution to training, teaching and supervision of colleague
  • Work in partnership with service users, carers and other agencies to ensure effectiveness of outcomes

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
