Job overview

Working for the Child Health Information Service (CHIS) based in Workington.

inputting and updating demographic information into our Electronic Patient Record system, including new birth details, vaccination, immunisation and blood screening results.  Scheduling baby immunisations and sending out appointment letters.

The Child Health Information Service (CHIS) is responsible for all children and young people aged 0-19 years (or 0-25 years old for children and young people with a disability). Ensuring that key information on a child’s health is available to their parents, any professionals involved in their care and for public health purposes.

Main duties of the job

  1. To input and update information accurately via data entry onto RiO Access and word processing relating to children’s birth details, vaccination and immunisation data, pre-school data and school health data to ensure effective service delivery.
  2. To deal competently with queries from users and other agencies relating to key tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
  3. To prioritise workload on a day to day basis, liaising with other team members to ensure continuity of service at all times.
  4. To demonstrate flexibility and initiative in response to the needs of the team’s directives ensuring that the efficiency of the team is maximised.
  5. Respond to queries and requests for information as directed by office procedures, guidelines and protocols. Refer complex or unusual requests to the Team Leader or a member of the management team.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE (grade A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
