An excellent opportunity has arisen for trainee Specialist Practitioners in Urgent and Emergency Care (tSPUEC), to join our successful teams across our trust footprint. The trainee SPUEC will require Significant  post qualification operational paramedic experience within an NHS Ambulance Service OR Nurse within an NHS Trust.  Also a BSc in a clinically related subject is required (2:2 or above).

Successful applicants appointed to vacant posts and will need to be prepared to commence their education (if required) in early September 2024. Therefore, they will need to make their current line manager aware at the point of application. 

Consideration will be given to applicants from across the Wiltshire, NE Devon and Dorset area.   Please do not discount an application if not close to current basis as we are looking to expand the locations that we base ourselves in and therefore willing to consider applicants from across these county areas.

As part of this role you would be expected to carry out all duties as set out in the Paramedic job description  as part of an operational crew, on a rapid response vehicle or in other appropriate areas/vehicles.  You will be operating under supervision or with remote senior clinical support as a tSPUEC developing an extended scope of practice.

In this role you will need to undertake duties in the Local Clinical Cells/Clinical Hubs, in a clinical advisory capacity including remote triage and prioritisation of emergency and urgent calls.  There will also be the requirement to demonstrate high levels of expertise in pre-hospital care and a range of acute and chronic conditions. 

There are also managerial aspects to the role which include assisting in the development of an integrated approach to the delivery of emergency care involving all relevant stakeholders including health and social care organisations, particularly within the primary care field.

Qualifications and Education

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • BSc in a clinically related subject (2:2 or above)
  • HCPC Registered Paramedic or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered Nurse
  • Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving [CERAD], completion of SWASFT Emergency Response Driving Course or any certificate in any appropriate legacy emergency response ambulance driving qualification e.g. IHCD Emergency Response Course. If driving test passed or retaken after 1/1/97 must hold a C1 driving licence
  • Safeguarding Level 2 Adults and Children

  • Post graduate level education
  • Safeguarding Level 3 Adults and Children
  • MSc Paramedic in Primary Care (or equivalent)
  • First Contact Practitioner
  • Clean driving licence

Experience

  • Significant post qualification operational paramedic experience within an NHS Ambulance Service OR Nurse within an NHS Trust
  • Must comply with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) orders 1975 and 1986
  • Practising Paramedic or Nurse with up-to-date skills audit record and continuing professional development portfolio

  • Clinical experience in Primary/ Urgent Care settings
  • Experience in Remote Clinical Triage and Clinical Validation
  • Experience in health & safety checks, risk assessments, accident reporting and investigating procedures
