The Ultrasound Department is staffed by 19 qualified Sonographers, including 1 Advanced Practice Sonographer, 2 non medical Consultant Sonographers and 1 Superintendent Sonographer.

Sonographers have varying skill sets, such as head and neck ultrasound, fine needle aspirations, biopsies, MSK joint injections, HyCoSy, neonatal head ultrasound and contrast studies.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality ultrasound service, performing ultrasound scans as directed.
  • To independently report examinations according to the level of reporting authorization agreed with the Consultant Sonographer and Clinical Lead in Ultrasound.
  • To be able to independently manage an ultrasound list.
  • To collaborate with colleagues in Ultrasound, Imaging and wider Trust where required.
