Job overview
UHD require additional Haematology Senior clinical fellow to fulfil the roles within our Cancer Care directorate. The post holders will be predominantly ward based and gain a wide range of experiences and undertake on calls. These roles have been established to provide the new configuration of the haematology service with a resilient team supporting our patients with quality care.
They will be required to work with other grades of staff, and help out with ward rounds, admitting patients and clinics.
Main duties of the job
Clerk and post take administration; writing in patients notes. Undertake patient reviews. Patient assessment, Drug prescription, Discharge administration. Promptly update patient systems. Attend clinics. Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings. Triage to medical teams/acute physicians as appropriate. Trouble shoot patients on the ward. Participate in ward rounds Take part in the Haematology on-call shift system.
The post is normal working days 09:00-17:00 plus the on call rota.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Haematology department at UHD is staffed with 16 Haematology Consultants.
As well as other Junior colleagues, the post will be supported by Junior clinical fellows and Physicians Associates.

Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration
- Safe Practice
- Understand the needs of the service
- Understands principles of Patient safety and data protection
- Communicate effectively
- Aware of own limitations and can deal with stressful situations
- Prioritise clinical practice
Desirable criteria
- Understands the basic principles of audit
- Previous experience in Haematology
- Passion within Haematology and the urge to develop their own knowledge within the specialty
- Able to deal with stressful situations
Fitness to work

- Is up to date and fit to practice safely
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Minimum of 4 months NHS experience
- • Minimum 2 years experience post qualification
- • Can demonstrate successful completion of foundation competencies
Desirable criteria
- • At least 6 months previous experience in Cancer Care specialties such as Haematology and Oncology
