Would you like to be instrumental in establishing and managing a newly developed prison mental health service in HMP Hull? 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Mental Health Team in HMP Hull as a Mental Health Team Manager. HM Prison Hull is a Category B men's prison, located in the city of Hull. 

The team manager will be expected to lead by example, providing strong leadership while being accessible to staff.  They will be flexible in their approach to managing the day-to-day operational aspects of the service maintaining agreed standards of service, and leading, motivating and developing staff. 

Team managers will work in partnership with other healthcare providers, HMPPS, internal and external Health and Justice services within the region.  They will have excellent skills in communication, engagement, collaboration and have experience of working in mental health services, preferably with knowledge of the criminal justice system.

Main duties of the job

Operational management of a Mental Health Team, including accountability for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients are maintained and delivered at all times in accordance with evidence-based practice, while supporting staff development and well-being.

The successful candidate will work collectively with senior clinical staff to provide a comprehensive mental health service, navigating the challenges of a prison environment. 

The post holder will liaise closely with their peer group of team managers in the NE and Yorkshire Prisons.  They will also be supported by a service manager and receive supervision and professional development opportunities. 

The successful candidate should have experience working in Mental Health Services.

A £3,000 joining bonus has been applied to this post for any new staff joining the Trust. This incentive is paid as follows; £1,500 upon joining the Trust, £750 after year 1 and £750 after year 2.
