University Hospitals Sussex (UHS) places immense value on its cancer pharmacy team, which has steadily grown in both strength and size over the years. We are delighted to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Specialist Cancer Services Pharmacist to join our well-established team of dedicated professionals for a fixed period of maternity leave cover.

This is an exhilarating phase for our cancer pharmacy service, as we aspire to expand our pharmacy prescribing team and provide even more patient-facing services. As part of this role, you will have the chance to work across various areas of haematology/oncology, utilising your prescribing and consultation skills in specific tumour sites. You will play a crucial role in our oncology service, collaborating closely with medical and nursing teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will;

  • Provide an expert level of clinical and technical  pharmacy services to the cancer directorate for UHS
  • Act as a lead clinical pharmacy practitioner for adult cancer services responsible for the delivery, development, evaluation and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the UHS pharmacy strategy
  • Act as a lead clinical pharmacy practitioner for  all clinical pharmacy aspects of clinical governance within  the adult cancer services including clinical risk, clinical audit and education and teaching
  • Where appropriately qualified, work as a non-medical prescriber to deliver a broad service to the cancer directorate. This will include the undertaking of patient facing  clinics, providing prescribing support to the  service and supporting the out-patient/in -patient cancer units.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacist
  • Previous experience in cancer services
  • Experience in managing people
  • Diploma or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • NMP
  • Experience in doing patient facing clinics
