Medical Secretary - Dermatology - 37.5 hours fixed term contract / secondment for 12 months
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of the busy Dermatology department based at Colchester Hospital. You will be working closely with the Medical Teams, Nursing Team, Outpatients Department, and other hospitals.
This is a key role within the Department. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team player to integrate with the current team and provide
an efficient and effective secretarial service and to cover theatre bookings.
You will support the provision of an efficient and comprehensive secretarial support service to the Consultants and medical staff.
Main duties of the job
To maintain a high standard of secretarial service to meet the needs of the clinical team within the Dermatology Department, ensuring that accurate and up to date typing of clinic letters and correspondence is achieved through digital dictation / audio.
You will be required to deal with queries from patients, GPs and other medical teams regarding patient care.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Good clerical / secretarial / admin background, proven experience.
- Microsoft Office applications including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and IT skills
- Work involving contact with members of the public.
Desirable criteria
- Lorenzo experience
- NHS experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE grade 5/C or equivalent in English and Maths
- Further higher education
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 3 in administration/secretarial or equivalent experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Good keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS policies
- Medical terminology
