An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Safeguarding Families and Complex Health Team as a Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children.

Ideally, you will be a highly motivated and experienced practitioner that is capable of positively influencing practice and is competent to lead the safeguarding of children & young people receiving care from ESNEFT with the support of the Head of Safeguarding Families.

This role will require in depth knowledge of safeguarding children and associated agendas/national guidance.

The priorities for the successful candidate will include:

·        Being a visible leader with the skills and vision to promote children’s safeguarding across the Trust

·        In conjunction with the Head of Safeguarding Families drive forward safeguarding activities that will ensure our Trust meets its statutory responsibilities to safeguard and protect children and young people whilst they access our services.

  • Work in collaboration with all members of the Safeguarding Families & Complex Health team across ESNEFT
  • In conjunction with the Head of Safeguarding Families, be responsible for ensuring that services are consistent and equitable across ESNEFT. 
  • Provide professional advice and support to all staff within ESNEFT

Qualifications

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration appropriate to the job role.
  • Evidence of additional specialist training in safeguarding (including master level attainment, or willingness to work towards this or be able to demonstrate relevant other experiences in safeguarding).
  • Teaching / mentorship qualification / course
  • Evidence of professional development relevant to safeguarding children.

  • NSPCC or equivalent safeguarding supervision training

Experience

  • Proven post registration experience in a role related to delivering care for babies/children and young people and be currently practising in the field of safeguarding children.
  • Experience of managing work with individual families and other agencies as a key part of role.
  • Extensive child safeguarding experience within an acute setting/working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of dealing with traumatic and emotional events relating to safeguarding.
  • Experience in receiving safeguarding supervision.
  • Experience in delivering training.

  • Experience of working in an integrated safeguarding team (children and adults)
  • Prior experience working as a Named Nurse safeguarding children or extensive experience as a safeguarding children’s specialist role
  • Experience in delivering safeguarding supervision
  • Previous line management experience

  • Experience in inter-agency work.
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to safeguarding children.
  • Evidence of on-going professional learning
  • Knowledge of children’s services
  • Knowledge of evidence based safeguarding children practice.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
