A rare  opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Team Leader within the team at William Harvey Hospital

This position is a crucial part of a wider procurement team that ensures that the hospital has the supply's and materials available for our fantastic NHS staff to carry out the amazing work that they do.

You will be leading a team who's objective it is to ensure a solid and watertight  clinical supply chain service. You will do this by coordinating your team members, using your previous experience to implement best practice methods to create innovative improvements that will ensure effectively executed action plans that will improve our overall daily hospital operations and our procurement function.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • To actively support the strategic management and development of a coordinated and integrated materials management service, identifying and proposing changes to policy and procedures related to the materials function
  • To Support and deliver within agreed timescales, projects and change management processes related to the review of trends in stock, usage, selection and supply chain management, encouraging the implementation of value for money product/supplier standardisation and rationalisation.
  • To plan, implement and effectively manage a programme of stocktakes for an agreed range of wards and departments within the customer site.
  • To prepare and review stocktake reports and checking systems at month end, outstanding orders and back order reports to identify product and supply issues, and escalating where necessary
  • To provide operational support and advice to key user departments and Trust clinical working groups, organising, managing and documenting trials where appropriate in the development and identification of product cost savings, liaising closely with Procurement Services Category Management and Change Management teams as required.
  • To plan, organise and manage the delivery of workload, targets and objectives related to the Materials Management Team for the site, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and achieved to timescales in the provision of an effective materials management service to the Trust.
  • To provide on-going training support for Supply Chain Team Staff, ensuring records are maintained.
  • To support and train the team in the effective use of the computerised ordering and requisition systems (Business World and EDC online ordering).
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders of all 2gether and Customer Care Groups/Departments, particularly as it related to the Materials Management and supply chain function.
  • To deal promptly with complains and concerns from customers and suppliers on commercially sensitive issues.
  • To ensure timely requisitioning from NHS logistics service providing efficient stock management at ward and departmental level across the site with effective receipt, distribution, replenishment and expediting of goods.
  • To plan and implement regular reviews with key customers of stock levels and the range of goods/products supplied, demonstrating a reduction in, effective stockholdings in all key areas, avoiding inappropriate and costly products entering the supply chain.
  • This role requires the ability to physically handle mechanical equipment to move product around the hospital, covering a significant amount of ground each day.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a supply chain environment or logistics setting. Experience within a healthcare setting is advantageous. 
  • Experience managing, mentoring and inspiring a large cross-site team.
  • Excellent communication and  stakeholder management skills. 
  • Proven ability to optimise and develop efficient processes and practices. 

Qualifications: 

  • General or technical qualification such as SVQ/NVQ level 3, Level 3 vocational awards, IVQ Technician Diploma, IVQ Advanced Diploma, Level 3 International Awards. 
  • Supply Chain or Logistics Qualification (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or other).
  • Supervisory, Management, H&S, Customer service courses/qualifications desirable.
