An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic team on the Acute Medical Unit as an Band 6 Charge Nurse, Sister.

We are a 35 bedded Acute unit that takes patients from ED.  We are a fast paced exciting environment to work in and have  a full range of developmental opportunities with our dedicated Practice Development Sister.   You will be supported by other Band 6 and Ward Managers along with the rest of the multidisciplinary team. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive role model to help support the Ward Manager's to ensure high standard of care is delivered.  If you think that this role is for you then we look forward to receiving your application.

A  Secondment position has arisen for a full time Band 6 on Acute Medical Admissions.

This position is based in unscheduled care which is a 36 bedded mixed sexed acute medicine unit. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your managerial skills within acute medicine and act as a junior support to the Ward Manager. The successful candidate will be expected to show effective leadership skills, act as a role model and ensure that high quality nursing care is delivered to enhance the patient's experience.

Experience with the management of the deteriorating patient is preferred but not essential.

  • To work as a registered nurse within a busy Acute Medical Unit
  • To prioritise and deliver nursing care and assessment as needed.
  • To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practise within the delivery of patient care.
  • To liaise with other departments and staff to ensure that patient care is delivered.
  • To ensure patients’ safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
  • To support the junior staff members and liaise with other departments and professionals to ensure that the needs of the patients are met.
  • Following appropriate development to take charge of the Acute Medical Unit and oversee patient admissions, discharge, transfers and the care delivered by other staff.
  • Implementation of robust documentation and accurate record keeping.
  • To support the managers to ensure trust policies are met at all times.
