Job overview

We are looking for the role of Cervical Screening Provider Lead (CSPL). This will consist of the additional roles and responsibilities of the CSPL role for 4 hours / 1 session per week alongside the individual’s current role.

The role requires a well organised person with excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge and understanding of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme pathways.

The post holder will act as the Trust lead for the Cervical Screening Programme, liaising with all teams involved in the provision of cervical screening services within the Trust as well as external teams including the Cervical Quality Assurance Service (SQAS), Screening and Immunisation Team (SIT) and Manchester Foundation Trust cytology lab.

The post holder will be integral to ensuring a high quality service for all screening patients ensuring the production of an annual report for the Trust regarding the service and for the mandatory national invasive cancer audit.

The Cervical Screening Provider Lead (CSPL) is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the cervical screening programme carried out within the Trust and acting as the point of focus for communication within the Trust regarding cervical screening. Overall responsibility for individual services within the screening programme remain with the clinical leads.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the NHSCSP pathways.
  • Specialist knowledge of health related screening.
Desirable criteria
  • Hold a NHSCSP approved CSPL training qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of clinical responsibility for screening services
  • Experience of pathways in cancer, women’s services, pathology and/or governance
  • Knowledge of the NHSCSP Audit of Invasive Cervical Cancers.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical responsibility for cervical screening services
  • Experience in completing the audit of invasive cervical cancers
  • Knowledge of Bolton’s cervical screening activity
