Applied Health Researcher

We are looking for an enthusiastic Applied Health Researcher (nurse or social science researcher) to join our team and support the conduct of our Applied Health Research studies, in particular, ‘The HIV-AC Person-centred care’ project. This study, using qualitative research methods, aims to develop person-centred models of care for people living with HIV who receive pelvic chemoradiotherapy for anal cancer. The post-holder will recruit and interview people living with HIV and treated for anal cancer, their care-givers and healthcare professionals; work closely with the research team to analyse the data and contribute to the co-production of a person-centred model of care. They will also support other Applied Health Research studies.

  • Able to work independently in all delegated areas of practice related to Applied Health Research including the conduct of in-depth qualitative research interviews.
  • Able to provide and receive complex information on the rationale, methodology, design, and delivery of Applied Health Research studies.
  • Ability to provide the patient with complex study information clearly and understandable to them, recruit them and provide support before, during and after the research study, ensuring study protocol followed.

  • Ability to take informed consent from patient (parent/guardian, next of kin, as appropriate) ensuring full understanding of the nature of the research, voluntary participation, and freedom to withdraw at any time without prejudice to treatment and care.
  • Will be responsible reporting and recording adverse events or serious adverse events that occur whilst the patient is involved in a research protocol, ensuring information is communicated and escalated appropriately to clinical staff using their judgements to manage risks.
  • Acts as a support for patients and relatives throughout the research and using judgment to refers to other professionals as appropriate.
