About this vacancy  

The Cardiovascular CAG is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Barts Heart Centre’s Patient Care Coordinator team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who will be responsible for the active management of patients’ pathways, with responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of a high performing and dedicated service.

Clinicians from Barts Health NHS Trust, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) and further afield are working together to create a single specialist centre for cardiovascular disease to cover all our local communities. You will be joining us at an incredibly exciting time, as we realise a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve services for patients and secure them for future generations in creating a world class cardiovascular service. 

Our brand new state of the art cardiovascular centre – Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital opened in May 2015. The new service allows us to bring together our existing unique experience and research activity. We are able to increase our understanding of and ability to address the root causes of cardiovascular diseases by growing the number of patients who get the chance to take part in clinical trials and research.

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Education/Requirements Supervisory or office management skills equivalent to certificate level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 years administration/medical secretarial/ pathway experience or equivalent non NHS

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE A Level or equivalent standard of education
  • A good level of medical terminology acquired through education, training or work experience
  • ECDL or equivalent experience ie experience of a range of IT packages such as word, excel, outlook and power point

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Keyboard skills to access and input to data systems; Competent in Microsoft Office products.
  • Competence with a range of IT packages, e.g. CRS and EPR
  • Understanding of Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act
