Highly Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist - Community

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary, specialist Neurological Community service in the diverse borough of Tower Hamlets consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, a Neuro Navigator / Nurse and Support staff.

Tower Hamlets Community Neuro Team (THCNT) works within the integrated framework of ‘Tower Hamlets Together’ and is supportive of innovation. There is opportunity to be involved in pathway development, quality improvement programs and close integrated working with a number of multi-agency stakeholders. This has been particularly pertinent during the COVID-19 community response. There are close links with the wider Neurological Physiotherapy service within Barts Health and also other community Allied Health Professionals working across the community health teams.  The team has forged links with Barts Health Neurologists therefore enhancing the scope for collaborative working, and strengthening the neurological pathway with access to Neurological clinics.

The post holder will be responsible for assessing, treating and clinically managing complex patients with a range of neurological conditions, some life limiting;  determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and the treatment program required. This will cross the realms of rehabilitation and disability management.

To provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and clinical management of clients with neurological conditions, determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and development of the Occupational therapy treatment program required.

To be dynamic in developing efficient and effective Occupational Therapy working practices to assist in producing a fully effective multidisciplinary team approach.

To work with the Allied Health Professional Lead to develop the service to best meet changing health and social care agendas.

To be responsible for the clinical development and operational management of a team of Occupational Therapists within the Tower Hamlets Community Neuro Team (THCNT).

To work with multidisciplinary colleagues to deputise to the Allied Health Professional Lead as required.

To work in collaboration with the acute Neurological Occupational Therapy service and Community Health Services to provide integrated care for clients with a Neurological diagnosis within Tower Hamlets.

Qualifications

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Evidence of CPD including attendance at recent post graduate courses/training relevant to Neuro rehab and disability management.
  • Supervision training
  • Fieldwork educators training
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists
  • Involvement in a relevant COT special clinical interest group (eg NANOT)
  • Post graduate formal qualification (i.e. MSc Module or equivalent).
  • Leadership training.

Experience

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Clinical experience in the field of Neurology, having completed band 6 rotations or equivalent.
  • Clinical experience in the NHS or similar health service across a range of acute/rehab settings.
  • Experience of working in a Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Experience of working with people with life limiting disease
  • Experience of contributing to professional development and clinical education of junior staff, students and assistants.
  • Experience of leading Audit/service improvement projects and working to timescale
