Job overview

The opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse in dialysis to join our team. We deliver dialysis services across the whole of North West London and work closely with stakeholders in the local District General Hospitals to ensure all of our patients receive an equitable service.

The Lead Nurse is accountable for managing over 300 nurses and is responsible for the day to day running of the units while also progressing the longer term strategy for the service along with a supportive and collaborative senior team

The Renal and Transplant directorate is a large complex service and this post is essential in the smooth running of the dialysis service.

Main duties of the job

·         Ensure agreed systems and process to consistently provide safe, effective high quality patient care and embed a culture of improvement, focusing on the Trust’s harm free indicators, measuring practice and using variations in the data to develop local improvement projects are in place.

·         Support the delivery of care through visible clinical leadership, working in partnership with ward and department managers.  Ensure that there are local systems and processes in place that support the delivery of kind, compassionate and respectful care, developing relationships with our patients that involve better listening and decision making; ‘ no decision about me without me’

·         Ensure that the delivery of care across the Department meets the individual needs of all patients, including single-sex accommodation, providing adequate food and drink, basic hygiene needs and considers inclusivity and personalisation
