About Us:
The Estates and Facilities Department of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is dedicated to ensuring the efficient operation and sustainability of our facilities. With oversight of three hospital sites within the trust, we play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our community. Our Energy Section within the department focuses on enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across all three hospitals. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge of building services engineering, with either a mechanical or electrical bias. They will be responsible for identifying and implementing energy-saving opportunities within our facilities. This role requires collaboration with our in-house Facilities Management (FM) team and their supply chain, as well as working closely with our skilled team of engineers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize expertise in building management systems (BMS) to identify energy cost-saving opportunities and conduct site surveys.
- Collaborate with the in-house FM team and BMS service providers to make adjustments to strategies and settings, ensuring optimal energy efficiency.
- Project manage energy-saving control projects, including cost estimation and verification of cost-saving impacts.
- Demonstrate proficiency with TREND BMS Systems and other relevant technologies.
- Scope and deliver energy projects, including calculating savings, preparing scopes of work, and producing business cases for investment.
- Conduct audits on contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare witnessing and commissioning schedules to ensure designed energy performance criteria are met at handover.
- Provide training and support to in-house maintenance engineers.
- Work closely with the Estates and Capital Projects team to integrate energy-saving initiatives into broader facility management strategies
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in optimizing BMS systems and delivering complex energy efficiency projects.
- Familiarity with measurement and engineering principles for calculating energy savings.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prepare engineering specifications and business cases.
- Experience in training and handing over projects to maintenance teams.
- Additional certification as an authorized person in low voltage systems, pressure systems, or ventilation systems is advantageous.
