Specialist Nurse Practitioner for Paediatric Uveitis and Rheumatology

Band 6

Trosolwg o'r swydd

This is a very exciting opportunity for a band 6 specialist nurse that encompasses both ophthalmic and rheumatology fields of care to support children who are undergoing treatment for uveitis and other similar autoimmune conditions. The role will require the successful candidate to help assess, instigate, manage, and care for children that require biologic and specialised treatment for this and similar conditions. It is a multifaceted role that requires excellent communication skills coupled with an exceptional knowledge of the treatment modalities to help the children and their families through this complex process.

The paediatric uveitis service has been in place in the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital for over 2 decades, the service is run in clinic by a multidisciplinary team including paediatric ophthalmic consultants supported by paediatric rheumatologists.

The service sees paediatric non-infectious inflammatory disease of idiopathic uveitis associated with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, sarcoidosis, granulomatosis of polyangiitis, and other autoimmune eye disease.

It will require the specialist to be able to undertake investigations and monitor results. It will also ensure the safety of the children and contribute to the clinical governance process within the service.
