An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who is passionate about providing patient centred care to continue their career in our progressive integrated podiatry team here at Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR)

Predominately community based you will be expected to provide comprehensive, high quality podiatric care in a variety of locations across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale's (HMR) Integrated Podiatry service including Rochdale Infirmary.

Our Team is made up mixed skilled Podiatrists and 2 Podiatry Assistants. The service operates across 6 geographical clinic locations within the Heywood / Middleton / Rochdale (HMR) Borough providing a comprehensive Podiatry service for patients with musculoskeletal / biomechanical, diabetic, wound care, vascular foot issues and nail surgery. The service also operates a domiciliary provision which has a strict access criteria.

 We have strong links with other disciplines across Diabetology, Vascular Surgery, Microbiology, Radiology and Orthopaedics providing excellent opportunities for developing the successful candidate. 

Main duties of the job

Your caseload will include the management of high risk patients which will include a domiciliary caseload, MSK clinics, nail surgery and the management of patients with various other medical conditions.  You will also have the opportunity work with  inpatients and outpatients as part of our in-reach to Rochdale Infirmary to ensure the delivery of timely and seamless care

Good diagnostic and clinical skills are essential.  Organisational, time management and communication skills are also critical to this role. You should have the ability to work on your own as well as part of our friendly team.

There are excellent opportunities to develop your skills with our established MSK and high risk teams. These will be supported through a CPD programme and staff appraisal.

Registration/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Degree or equivalent in qualification in Podiatric Medicine
  • Local anaesthesia certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level qualification or training

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad knowledge of routine and high-risk patient care (assessment, diagnosis and treatment/management) e.g. diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, Nail Surgery and wound care.
  • Significant post registration NHS experience including experience of working across core clinical areas
  • Good knowledge of biomechanics
  • Ability to carry out and analyse and interpret results of various assessments within scope of practice
  • To be able to work in restricted positions, particularly when carrying out domiciliary visits.
  • High levels of concentration during treatment and to be able to deal with unexpected situations (e.g. emergencies).
  • Ability to assess new patients and provide appropriate treatment based on individual need of patients and care planning
  • Ability to manage own time, prioritise tasks, work independently and under own initiative and multi-task
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Work as a member of a team
  • Exercise individual responsibility and judgement.
  • Able to adapt to change and resolve problems
  • To have good organisational and timekeeping skills
  • The ability to work at and travel to various sites throughout Salford and Greater Manchester
