An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic nurse educator to join the critical care education team at the Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust, Royal site.

Our Department facilitates 33 adult beds (Level 2 and Level 3 capacity) and prides itself on being a friendly, cohesive and inclusive team supported by outstanding multidiciplinary staff.   We are extremely proud of the standards of care that we provide, as proved by our ICNARC data; more recently performing above average with Covid 19 clinical outcomes, CQC inspection’s, internal/external performance metrics and patient experience/family feedback. 

We have recently merged with our neighbouring Trust and are now part of Liverpool Hospitals spanning across 3 sites serving the large population of Merseyside.

We have successfully moved into our new state of the art new hospital site which has improved the working lives of our team and patient experience. 

Main duties of the job

You will have extensive, current experience in a level 2/3 Critical Care environment and will have completed a post graduate Critical Care Course with evidence of clinical competency at a minimum of Band 6 seniority. 

We are looking for an individual with excellent leadership and communication skills who are able to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative and innovative approach to the clinical environment. It is expected that you can provide clear evidence of patient-centred teaching and quality improvement.  The successful candidate will support the educational needs of a team of over 150 critical care staff nurses.

The successful candidate will be an  expert clinical practitioner whose primary objective is to educate health care staff. To provide extensive clinical advice and support to enhance the knowledge base and practical skills of staff  who are caring for seriously ill adult patients and patients at risk of critical illness. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Acting as a clinical resource within Critical Care, you will participate in and provide education supporting appropriate management of haemodynamic instability, complex ventilatory methods and vital organ support.

You will promote excellent nursing care that is based on latest research findings and constitutes best practice whilst being clinically competent and confident to utilise skills and knowledge in a variety of clinical settings; ensuring that appropriate, consistent and realistic information is provided to staff within critical care. 

You will ensure that clinical practice is in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, the NMC, The Code: Professional standards for Practice and behaviour for Nurses and Midwives.

Essential criteria
  • RGN
  • Relevant Teaching and Assessing courses
  • ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • Relevant Mentorship course

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in teaching in Critical Care environment
