Job overview

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated experienced Echocardiographer or will consider appointing a Trainee Echocardiographer (annex 21) to work within our rapidly developing diagnostic Unit.

Our Echo service provides a wide range of tests to include Transthoracic echocardiography, Dobutamine and Exercise Stress echocardiography, Transoesphageal echocardiography, ACHD clinics with established Physiologist-led services including Contrast, VHD clinics and stress echocardiography.

 

Band 7

For the qualified position applicants must hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent. BSE accreditation. RCCP registration.

OR

Band 7 (Annex 21)

As a Trainee - hold a Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent and RCCP / AHCS registration.

To undertake a two-year training programme to obtain the relevant professional body exams, training, and experience (complete British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation and be scanning autonomously at Band 7 level for at least a year), to meet the full requirements of this Band 7 Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist role and all duties as indicated within this job description.

During this period, remuneration will be 70% at the top of Band 7 for year one (months 1-12), and 75% of the top of Band 7 for year 2 (months 13-24) of training. 

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint someone who will relish the challenge of being part of our team and possess the initiative and drive to complement the responsibility of this role. 

The post holder will work as part of a team of cardiac physiologists based in the Cardiac Physiology department, providing a quality Echocardiography service to both inpatients and outpatients.

They will be required to undertake a range of complex activities of a highly specialist nature (Echocardiography), ensuring that they provide a high standard of care to all patients accessing the service within the resources available. Working across the sites within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) as service requires.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
