Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen on Same Day Emergency Care, appointing a new Care Support Worker into our team.
Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is a fast paced, rapid assessment unit for medical patients who have been referred by the Emergency Department (ED) or primary care. The ambition of the unit is to deliver quality care to patients within the same day in order to avoid a hospital admission- when safe to do so and also reduce ED attendances. Ensuring patients are in the right place, receiving the right care.
The Care Support Worker (CSW) we need on this unit will be motivated, eager to learn new skills, approachable and positive.
Main duties of the job
- Prioritising patient care, nutrition and assisting with comfort breaks
- Observations, weights, CBG's, urinalysis
- Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG's
- Collating patient history and assisting with assessments
- Supporting the Multi disciplinary team

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The CSW's role is to support the care of the patients within SDEC and optimise the environment around them.
This includes ensuring the unit is clean and maintaining IPC standards at all times.
Equipment and resources are clean and available to use at any time.
We have a strong teamwork ethic and encourage CSW's to support our clerical team on a regular basis as well.
Person specification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Care Certificate or required to undertake Care Certificate and complete within 12 weeks
- 5 GCSE grade c or above or equivalent, including Maths and English OR demonstrable equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience in acute care
- Care Certificate
- NVQ level 2 or 3 in care
