Job overview
We are looking for individuals who will be enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our friendly team to support us to provide a high quality and efficient Microbiology diagnostic service to our patients and users of our service.
You will be working alongside Biomedical Scientists and Associate Practitioners, delivering high quality care for the patients of the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post holders will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and self-organisation within their work and the department will provide training and support throughout.

Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
- Receipt and sorting of samples into the department
- Pre analytical preparation of samples
- Data inputting of patient information/requests onto the laboratory computer
- Telephone enquiry and results service
- Assisting in the general cleanliness and tidying of the section
- Routine analyser preparation and operation
Requirements of the post:
- Previous experience of patient data inputting and any typing qualifications are desirable, but not essential.
- Flexible and logical approach to work, good telephone manner, and team working are all personal qualities which are essential to this role.
