Job overview

The Pharmacy Homecare team are looking to recruit a Trainee/Senior Pharmacy Assistant who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and has excellent time management skills.

The Homecare service provides a fantastic service to patients allowing them to receive and administer their medication at home. The candidate will be working with multidisciplinary teams in the trust and with Homecare providers so must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be organised, have excellent attention to detail and must be able to work both independently and part of a team. The candidate must be able to adapt to the changing demands of the service.

Candidates must be willing to work towards completing the level 2 Dispensing Pharmacy qualification, however applications are welcome from those who already hold this qualification. If you already have the required qualifications and skills, then you will start the role as a Senior Pharmacy Assistant Band 3. Candidates will also contribute to the weekend and bank holiday rota.

Main duties of the job

This role will include:

  • Dealing with queries and problem solving.
  • Maintaining records of prescriptions and supply of medicines to patients.
  • Follow procedures and guidelines.
  • Communicating with a variety of stakeholders and service providers.
  • Prioritising workload to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Dispensing of Homecare medication on our Pharmacy stock control system
  • Raising requisition numbers for Homecare prescriptions on our Pharmacy stock control system
  • Booking in and processing orders on our Pharmacy stock control system
  • Updating data on our Pharmacy stock control system
  • Processing and completing Homecare prescription requests
  • Dealing with invoice queries
  • Support new starters with training

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. Maths and English at C or above – or equivalent qualification/. You must have proof of qualifications.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work to protocols, procedures and SOP’s and suggests changes.
Desirable criteria
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Hospital pharmacy experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use a range of computer programmes relevant to the post
