Trosolwg o'r swydd

Applications are invited for a 10PA Substantive Consultant in Paediatric Haematology at Nottingham University Hospitals.  The post will involve malignant, benign and laboratory haematology.  An interest in either haemoglobinopathy or leukaemia will best complement the existing team.

The post comes with a recruitment incentive “golden hello”.

The appointing manager may offer up to a maximum of 20% of the total first year salary.  A ‘golden hello’ payment would be paid at 50% on commencement of employment and 50% following 12 months employment. The payments will be subject to tax and NI deductions.

Our East Midlands Children’s and Young Person’s Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS) is a two site principle treatment centre for malignant haematology based across Nottingham and Leicester and takes approximately 140 new malignant patients each year.  The post is Nottingham based, but with links via a shared MDT.  Nottingham University Hospital Trust is commissioned as a Specialist Haemoglobinopathies Team (SHT) and is part of the East Midlands Sickle and Thalassemia network (EMSTN).  We are also a Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre.  Our inpatient unit houses a teenage cancer trust area, adjacent daycare facilities with a theatre room and access to paediatric intensive care on the same corridor.

The successful applicant will work as part of the consultant team to provide inpatient care to the haematology and oncology service on a 1 in 6 service week basis as well as having specific responsibilities for clinical and laboratory work within the Paediatric Haematology Service.  The current vacancy is for a haematologist who is lead for leukaemia but this may be negotiated with the current team based on the applicant’s specific interests.  We care for patients post autograft in partnership with Sheffield who deliver the stem cell treatment.  The post is for 10PAs but applications from those wishing to consider job share or more flexible arrangements are also invited.

It is essential that applicants have specific training in paediatric haematology and are fully registered with the GMC with entry to the specialist register for haematology (or the expectation of award of CCT within 6 months of interview).  Please refer to the job description for full details.  Additional enquiries and visits are very welcome.
