An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager within Trauma & Orthopaedics, based at the Queens Medical Centre.
The Service Manager for Trauma and Orthopaedics, oversees the day-to-day operations of the specialty and provides leadership and management for the whole department. The post holder will support the Specialty General Manager to identify areas for improvement and develop the service to ensure we deliver high quality and timely care for our patients.
The post holder will manage and develop the specialty information systems, analyse data and create reports to monitor against targets and implement change/improvements as required. The post holder will line manage and work alongside the Deputy Service Manager to support the T&O administration teams, systems and processes necessary to support clinical care for patients. The post holder will deputise for the Specialty General Manager as appropriate.
We are looking for someone who can enthusiastically take on these challenges and be part of a collaborative management team. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required for this role and the ability to manage your time, meet deadlines and adapt to daily prioritisation is important.
The position is available for 30 hours per week, with flexible working days to be discussed with successful candidate.

You will have experience in staff management and project work, both leading and delivering. You will be able to work under pressure and work to deadlines. You will need to good communication and negotiation skills, plus excellent planning, time management and organisational skills. You must be able to take on additional responsibility when required and be able to use initiative to problem solve existing issues and any potential problems that may arise.
This role would suit any candidate looking to further progress their career towards a senior management role, or to gain further operational and strategic experience within the NHS.
The successful candidate will be educated to university degree standard or will have equivalent experience. It is desirable to have had some experience working within the NHS and line manager experience is essential.

The Trauma & Orthopaedics department is made up of three sub specialties: Adult Trauma & Orthopaedics, Hands Trauma & Hands Electives, and Paediatric Trauma & Paediatric Orthopaedic Electives.
You will be working within a strong senior leadership team within Trauma and Orthopaedics made up of the Head of Service, Matron and Specialty General Manager and Deputy Service Manager. You will be supporting a large, friendly and experienced admin team.
