Job overview

St Andrews Ward in Well’s would like to invite a Service Assistant (Cleaner/Cook) to join their friendly team.

The ward provides assessment and treatment of acute mental ill health to adults of working age.

We are a very caring and close-knit team with a focus on supporting each other through the challenges of working on an acute ward so we can continue to make a difference.

Please note that St Andrews Ward is due to move to Yeovil in Summer 2024

Main duties of the job

You’ll be joining a team of Service Assistants who are responsible for the cleaning of the unit, following a planned, methodical approach in order to ensure all areas are included.

Examples of areas cleaned are toilets, bathrooms, bedrooms, lounges, offices, external patio areas and the immediate external vicinity of entrances.

You’ll also support with the food preparation for the ward using cook / freeze preparation, which does not require advanced cooking skills.

No experience is necessary as full training and support will be provided. What’s most important is a compassionate nature and a willingness to learn.

We have full or part time hours available, working across the 7-day week.  The shift are 7am-3pm or 10am - 6pm.

Working for our organisation

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, fantastic pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.
