Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology Department as Cancer Waits Coordinator and Data Quality Co-ordinator.

The role will be split with 3 days focussed on cancer tracking and 2 days focussed on data quality.

The successful candidate must possess a demonstratable knowledge of Referral to Treatment (RTT), managing patient pathways, a good knowledge of Lorenzo and ideally Infoflex, and a good understanding of the RTT and Cancer Waits targets. We are seeking a highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work at pace to complete tasks in a timely manner.

The post holder must be able to manage their time and workload accordingly to ensure that both aspects of the role are covered each week as well as attending meetings and meeting deadlines.

Main duties of the job

Cancer Waits Coordinator - ensure accurate and timely data collection, identify potential breaches, investigate and provide analysis on cancer pathways, complete validation reports, provide cancer tracking duties.

Data Quality Coordinator - tracking and progressing patients on open pathways, identify data quality trends/issues and support training of staff to address the issues, validate pathways and correct errors, complete validation reports.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade A-C (4-9) or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • IT qualification NVQ 3 (or equivalent demonstrable experience in learning, using different systems/applications to obtain and input data)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a cancer waits co-ordinator within the NHS.
  • Experience of handling and interpreting reports
  • Experience of dealing with and validating patient pathways and a knowledge of Cancer Wait Times and Targets.
  • Demonstrable experience of using, interpreting, and acting up on the Trust’s data error reports and using these to improve data quality.
  • Experience of using the trusts computer systems, in particular Lorenzo.
  • Relevant NHS experience or of working in a health care environment.
  • Experience of training staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a cancer waits co-ordinator within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
  • Competent in using database packages.
  • Experience of Infoflex (cancer tracking software) or similar data capture system
  • Experience of working in a medical specialty or with cancer data collection
  • Experience of the following IT systems: G2, ChemoCare, Infoflex, DGH PAS systems, Chemotherapy scheduling tools, Aria, ICE Open Exeter, Ormis, Summary Care Record, Medical Imaging, and Pinpoint
