LOCUM CONSULTANT NEPHROLOGY
We are currently recruiting to a Locum Consultant for Nephrology. The post-holder will have duties in Nephrology department and will join a team of 7.5 Consultant Nephrologists. You will have responsibility for managing a cohort of Haemodialysis patients at Royal Stoke, although there are 2 satellite units, one at Leighton and one at County and rota' d responsibility for a 29-bedded ward at Royal Stoke

The post holder will join a team of 7.5 Nephrologists providing clinical leadership to renal patients at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. The job plan allows for a rota of 2 weeks in 14 of ward-based work, both of which will be devoted to delivering inpatient services at the Stoke site, with some time for MDTs.
The remaining weeks will be based on delivering out-patient care, this will predominantly be at one site but there is the potential for clinics at all three sites.
The post holder will be responsible for weekly clinics and for managing a cohort of haemodialysis patients at Royal Stoke, although there are 2 satellite units based at County and Leighton Hospitals. The post holder will be expected to contribute regularly to procedure, supervision and training of the renal STs and trust grades. They will also participate in the rota with other Consultant Nephrologists to cover inpatient and on-call commitments. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to contribute to the education of trainees, quality improvement, research activities, and clinical governance of the service.

The Trust has some of the most modern operating theatres in Europe.

Qualifications

- Full GMC Registration
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry via CCT within 6 months of date of the AAC or CESR

- MD, PhD or equivalent
- Specialty Certificate Examination
Clinical Experience & Training

- Experience working at Consultant level within a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems within renal medicine.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients

- Experience of clinical supervision
- Experience in Critical Care

- Track record of engaging in clinical governance: reporting errors, learning from errors.
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications

- Evidence of training in research methodology
- Experience in research including willing to participate in audit programmes.

- Evidence of having undertaken original research
- Publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals in the last five years
