Senior Pharmacist – Stroke Services

Hyper acute and acute stroke services across the Coventry and Warwickshire regions, designed to support and develop a changing stroke service within the region have been centralised. This post holder will be an integral part of this service; clinical pharmacy leadership; governance support and provide expert advice.

 

The primary role of this specialist post is to lead and provide a comprehensive, high quality pharmacy service for stroke patients with in the trust and ensure appropriate handover of repatriated patients across the region. In addition to working within a wider multidisciplinary team the post holder will lead the pharmacy service for the stroke speciality.

  • Lead, provide and develop a clinical pharmacy service for stroke patients at UHCW NHS Trust.
  • Lead a pharmacy team to help operationally and clinically deliver pharmaceutical services to the stroke ward. 
  • Work closely with the pharmacy neurosciences team, along with other relevant surgical and medical pharmacists, supporting and covering, while developing services together.
  • Work with other healthcare providers both in the community and at other hospital sites where UHCW NHS Trust is the regional hub for acute stroke services.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of medicines optimisation including the cost-effective use of drugs and support of anticoagulation prescribing within stroke services, ensuring stroke patients receive safe, effective and timely drug therapy.
