Working for our organisation

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.

We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.

We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,400 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.

Our values: Kindness, Respect, Teamwork and Improvement are at the heart of all we do.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A DRIVING LICENSE WITH C1 CLASS IS ESSENTIAL - You will be required to confirm within your application that you hold a full C1 Category on your license which is valid within the UK.

The working days and times are dependent upon current provision required to meet operational/patient demand and this can include Bank Holidays, weekends and nights, preparing our frontline operational vehicles and maintaining our provision on a 24 hour basis. A significant percentage of our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation is completed overnight.  However, night and weekend working does attract unsocial payments which will mean pay increasing significantly depending on shift patterns.

Holiday entitlement is between 27 days and 33 days (pro-rata) depending on length of NHS service plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis.

Please ensure you read and understand the attached job description before completing your application. Completion of the Supporting Information section within your application is essential and please include any relevant experience, knowledge and/or role related qualities to support your application.

The successful candidates must be flexible in their approach and convey a personal commitment to demonstrating the YAS values and behaviours.

You must be reliable and conscientious with a good eye for detail and be able to work individually and as part of a small team.
