The job holder will be based in the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Office at Airedale Hospital, under the guidance and supervision of a registered practitioner.
The job holder will be responsible for the coordination of the administrative function and care of patients within the complex cancer pathways arranging investigations, appointments ensuring Multi-Disciplinary Team discussion in a timely manner to ensure waiting time targets are not breached and patient’s needs are met.

The jobholder will work with the Lung CNS as part of a multidisciplinary team, assisting the CNS’s with actions arising from MDT outcome discussions.
The jobholder will also be required to Triage incoming calls, provide advice and support to patients over the phone and in a clinic setting and initiate appropriate response according to protocols and individual pathways, liaising with the CNS as appropriate

Qualifications
Meini prawf hanfodol
- GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English or equivalent
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent
Meini prawf dymunol
- Recognised administrative qualification
- Knowledge of databases and spreadsheets
- HNC/ NVQ Level 3 or equivalent evidence of working at that level
Skills

- Ability to communicate sensitively with patients, carers and staff about their health needs
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to correspond at a professional level
- Computer literate with knowledge of IT systems such as word and excel
- Flexible and adaptive to meet the needs of the service.
Knowledge

- Knowledge of the NHS Constitution & ‘Understanding the New NHS’
- Understanding of trust guidelines and policies

- Understanding of local and national guidance in relation to cancer services
- Knowledge of databases and spreadsheets
Experience

- Experience within the NHS or similar environment (e.g. Dept of Health or other public service)
- Experience dealing with complex and sensitive information on a regular basis
- Patient focused with a positive and caring attitude

- Experience of working with cancer patients or within a relevant clinical setting
- Experience of Waiting Time Targets
