Job overview
To work alone or as part of a team providing a high standard of service for patients, visitors, staff and outside agencies.
7 am start to 3 pm including weekend and bank holiday rotas. Bank positions are also available. Pay enhancements are made for weekend and bank holiday hours.
Main duties of the job
Porters play a vital role in providing an excellent service to all teams.
They can be the first point of contact and need to be compassionate, caring, respectful and be able to assist with confidence.
- Delivery of post.
- Receiving NHS stores and other deliveries onto site and store away.
- Collection of patient prescriptions.
- Moving of deceased patients to mortuary.
- Cleaning/tidying of areas e.g. car parks, etc.
- Taking delivery of bio-fuel.
- Setting up of meeting rooms.
- Delivering patients meals from main kitchen to wards e.g breakfasts, etc.
- Working to SCHT policies and guidelines.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
