Staff Nurse (Band 5), Surgical Unit

Band 5

Guernsey is in the English Channel and offers its residents a great quality of life. It’s the perfect escape for those seeking a laid-back yet adventurous lifestyle and a job with plenty of rewards.

So forget long commutes to work and head for our sandy shores where you’ll find everything you want within easy reach of where you live.

Have you ever considered a career in Guernsey where you have time to care, gaining experience across a broad range of surgical areas, such as gastrointestinal, urological, and gynaecological surgery, plus both trauma and elective orthopaedics? Are you currently at first level registration with the NMC?

We have some great opportunities across our surgical units as well as in our Private Ward (Victoria Wing). Following general training and experience as a Band 5 registered nurse, you will progress to supervising and participating in the professional and skills development of qualified and unqualified nursing staff.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team which is made up of medical specialists, therapists and a wide range of consultant nurses, you will work across acute services which include pain management, infection control, diabetes, breast care, urology, stoma care and osteoporosis.

Within the Victoria Wing we offer private patient care, catering for surgical and medical patients across a wide variety of treatments.

If you have experience in orthopaedic procedures (elective and trauma), we would equally be happy to hear from you.

As an effective role model, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for patients, delivering this the current ward philosophy

Finally, and under the direction of the Nurse in charge, regularly act as ward co-ordinator as well as taking charge of the ward and supervising nursing staff on a regular basis.

We offer a full relocation package which includes interview and relocation travel, this is in addition to our competitive pay, annual bonus and our additional bonus scheme of £3,000, payable after two and four years.  Furthermore we offer subsidised accommodation for those travelling to the Island alone, and an 8 year employment permit for those wishing to bring a partner or family.  Please see the link below for further information regarding this..

Terms and conditions apply to all bonuses, relocation package, accommodation, travel and employment permits.
