Job overview
We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our well established rotation. We have fantastic opportunities for staff who have completed their basic rotations who are looking to expand their knowledge, skills and experience within the acute setting.
You may already be a senior therapist looking for a new challenge or a Band 5 ready to make the move into a senior role. As a Band 6 you will be expected to perform to a high clinical standard, supervise Band 5s and/or assistants, and Occupational Therapy Students on placement, as well as contribute to our service development. In all fields of practice you will be supported by an experienced team lead.
We have a strong commitment to clinical supervision and Continuing Professional Development; you will be regularly supervised by a senior therapist and attend the band 6 Occupational Therapy support groups. You will be supported to engage in service development and encouraged to put forward suggestions as to how we can enhance and grow the services we offer. We have a well-structured In-Service Training Programme which the successful applicant will be able to learn from as well as the opportunity to lead sessions with support from your team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder assists in the development, administration and provision of a specialist Occupational Therapy service; carries a varied caseload of patients. Managing complex assessment, with predominantly physical conditions and with regard to the physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual and social aspects of their care.
Directly responsible for the management of own caseload of patients with diverse presentation and complex physical and psychological conditions, referred for Occupational Therapy assessment, rehabilitation, treatment planning and discharge management.
Assists in the management of the specialist team providing, developing and planning an Occupational Therapy service to patients for this client group. The post holder will act as a source of expertise, demonstrating and maintaining knowledge, skills and experience in this specialist role

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in OT by recognised awarding body e.g. Royal College of Occupational therapists.
- Must satisfy the criteria for full membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Further qualifications/study
- Driving licence (and use of own car for work purposes).
Desirable criteria
- An approved Occupational Therapy supervisor for OT/PT degree students
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the role of Occupational Therapy for people with a wide range of physical dysfunction.
- Previous experience relating to specialist area.
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
- Knowledge of relevant NHS and SS legislation.
- Experience with community/mental health conditions.
- Used to working in a busy environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and any other relevant It systems applicable to the applicant.
- Experience of undertaking clinical supervision
- Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals.
- Thorough knowledge of the Inclusion (equality and diversity) agenda.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering teaching and training sessions.
