Job overview

LSCFT adult mental health inpatient services aim to meet the holistic needs of service users while they recovery from their mental illness. This role supports the clinical team on Stevenson Ward to provide a meaningful and therapeutic day for our service users.

 

With colleagues and the support of registered staff, you will plan, co-ordinate and deliver an activity programme which will vary depending on the needs of the service users at the time. You will be expected to work rotational shifts covering weekdays, evenings and weekends to enable activity to be offered outside of 9am-5pm.

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who will be able to work under their own initiative, to motivate and encourage service users to identify and engage in the activities. They will be keen to develop additional skills and working relationships with other colleagues and organisations, to expand the social and recreational opportunities available to our service users in line with evolving service needs.

 

In exchange LSCFT will support your development and prepare you for future roles in our mental Health services or the wider NHS.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or care certificate completed (or willingness to complete in first 12 months from appointment) or equivalent knowledge skills and experience
  • Ability to undertake Violence Reduction physical intervention training.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of confidentiality.
  • Good communication both written and verbal and the ability to pass on information accurately.
  • Able to promote a professional image

Experience
