Job overview
Applications are invited for the role of Band 8a Paediatric Audiology Clinical Lead. We are looking for a highly experienced Paediatric Audiologist to join our forward thinking and friendly Audiology Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The role is on a 12 month fixed term basis and is across sites at; St. Mary’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Woodfield Road medical Centre and Parkview Medical Centre.
We provide a comprehensive paediatric audiology service including assessing babies referred from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, the behavioural and objective assessment of children of all ages and the habilitation of children with hearing loss. We also provide a specialist bone conduction hearing implant (BCHI) service. The Paediatric Audiology Service sits alongside Adult Audiology Services and the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.
The department holds IQIPS accreditation and the post holder will be responsible for the clinical quality of the Paediatric Audiology Service, ensuring that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high quality care. We are also a training centre delivering the Scientist Training Programme through the National School of Healthcare Science.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right applicant to build on their existing skills to help us make a difference to the lives of children and families who experience hearing loss across North West London.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be a highly experienced specialised paediatric audiologist who will provide paediatric audiological evaluation and rehabilitation.
- They will manage and be responsible for the running and development of the Paediatric Audiology Service.
- The post holder will provide clinical supervision and training to junior members of staff, work autonomously, should show initiative and manage own caseload

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MSc in Healthcare Science or Clinical Audiology with clinical competency or equivalence.
- Specialist training courses and relevant experience
- Management Training.
- RCCP/AHCS/HCPC registration.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualifications
Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 8 years post qualification clinical experience.
- Experience of managing people
- Highly developed specialist knowledge. Attendance of relevant courses/conferences
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills
- Overcoming barriers i.e. age and English as a second language.
- Ability to manage adults and children with challenging behaviours, patients under stress and their relatives
- Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
