An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our expanding and highly supportive patient team for the role of a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist.

The post is based at The Harbour Hospital in Blackpool, covering a range of Mental Health wards including Psychiatric Intensive Care Units, Acute Admissions, Dementia, Elderly, Advanced Care Wards and a 136 suite.

Main duties of the job

The role offers the ideal job opportunity for a pharmacist who may wish to enhance their knowledge within the mental health field. This role may also be suitable for a soon-to qualify or newly-qualified pharmacist to develop within this area of specialty. 

Hospital and/or mental health experience is desirable but not essential as we have an in-house award-winning training programme to support the successful candidate. We are also able to offer the successful candidate the opportunity to complete the Aston University distance learning Postgraduate Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics, which is accredited by the College of Mental Health Pharmacy (CMHP). We can also offer other courses and training events to support future clinical, professional and personal development.

 

The post will provide an opportunity for the following:

·       Pharmaceutical care planning and clinical review of prescriptions

·       Involvement in multi-disciplinary ward rounds

·       Provision of medicines information to service users and staff

·       Opportunity to experience pharmacy practice across in-patient services and community teams

·       Supporting development of robust medicines management processes

·       Actively working to deliver the Trust medicines optimisation strategy

·       Ensuring compliance to GPhC standards for dispensing.

·       Clinical audit
