Mental Health Practitioner, Older People’s Mental Health Services

Job overview
Are you a compassionate, registered Mental Health nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with a genuine interest in dementia and working primarily with older adults? If so, come and join us in this role in our Memory Clinic. With a Mon-Fri, 9-5pm working pattern, ongoing regular supervision and support provided, you will be joining a well-established Memory Clinic with MSNAP accreditation.
This would also be a great opportunity for a newly qualified practitioner with a keen interest in working with older adults and we welcome your application if you are looking for your first qualified role.
You will work with patients experiencing cognitive decline and be responsible for supporting Patients, Carers, and their families through the diagnostic pathway by providing comprehensive assessments and post - diagnostic support. There may also be an opportunity for you to get involved in and assist with auditing and research for our patients.
The role is based at Nicholson House, Maidenhead and your time in this role will be spent visiting clients in their homes in the local community so you will need a car to get to appointments. You will be required to come to the office occasionally for team meetings, training or for other service-related reasons as necessary, although currently we conduct most team meetings virtually this may change in future.
Main duties of the job
- Undertaking Memory assessments of patients and conduct semi-structured interviews with family members and others involved in a patient’s care.
- Using Memory assessment cognitive tests
- Assessing current risks and identify how the risk and patient health needs would be best met.
- Promoting and developing evidence – based practice working within NICE guidelines.
- Collaborating with members of the integrated Older Adults Mental health team to provide advice and support where required.
- Supervising junior staff and students.
